I know it’s November and we’ve moved on from Halloween. The skeletons, ghosts, and cobwebs should all be safely stowed in the storage shed by now, but I want to send one last cold shiver up your spine with a phrase that’s scary any time of year.
WASTED MONEY…
Our HVAC contractors are probably well aware of the SEER2 changes that go into effect at the beginning of 2023, but with all the promotion, warnings, and education that’s out there it’s been pretty shocking to hear all the contractors who are still unprepared.
It’s November… we’re less than 60 days out from you potentially having thousands of dollars’ worth of inventory that you can’t legally move.
Not meaning to sound the alarm (too loudly) here, but even with all the emails from association groups, distributors, etc., this change doesn’t seem to be getting the urgency it deserves. Since COVID shutdowns and delays, many of you have struggled to get inventory of any type. So, maybe you’re sitting in good position now. But it seems because this change doesn’t immediately affect the public and homeowners themselves aren’t clamoring to get ahead of it or local news stations aren’t running special interest reports, there hasn’t been much buzz around the industry to take advantage of the opportunity.
If you have systems in stock right now that fall below the new minimum SEER standard, don’t just assume they’re going to sell before the end of the year and run the risk of being stuck. On the other hand, there are contractors taking a very aggressive approach who are buying up this soon obsolete inventory from distributors and are making a killing pushing it now. But you can’t do either without a proper plan.
Hudson,Ink has developed a full campaign (available now to all content subscribers or for individual license) to help you make a concerted effort moving as many of these systems as you can before the deadline. We’ve taken out the legwork and made it easily adaptable to regional requirements.
Here’s a little preview of what you have available in just a few clicks:
Hudson,Ink has always been here to make life easier for you, especially on the messaging and motivation side. But brass tacks are, whether you use our campaign, do it yourself, or have another option in mind, there’s no reason to chance having super expensive piles of scrap metal sitting in your warehouse come January. The key difference factor between contractors who thrive during changes like this and those who end up getting burned is proper planning and investment. The time is not too late, but it’s getting too close for comfort.
